As well as the microwave, the aluminum packaging is part of the consumer’s day to day. Both have made defrosting and heating foods easier.
As good partners, aluminum packaging and microwave oven can make a great team together.
In fact, it is in this kind of oven that the aluminum packaging performs better, showing it most interesting features.
The aluminum reflects the micro waves so you can place thin strips of aluminum foil on the sensitive parts of the food (meat, fish, poultry) so it acts as a shield to defrost and cook food in a more uniform way.
Control that the package has been placed correctly. It has to be in the middle of the plate, avoiding any contact with the internal walls of the oven.
When taking out the aluminum package, use gloves to avoid burning.
Important Information
Remove the lid of the package before turning the microwave on.
Going straight to the microwave to defrost and heat, foods keep all their nutrients, as if just prepared.

Studies carried out by technology institutes and independent labs of the US, Canada, England, Denmark, Switzerland and also Brazil, consider it safe to use, following safety standards. Its usage was already tested in experimental kitchens all over the world, and qualified as safe.
Do not allow aluminum to touch the “walls” of the microwave, keeping a minimum distance of 3 cms, and remove the package lid before putting it in the oven. It is also recommended that the food in the package has a maximum height of 3,5 cms. It is important that the tray is completely filled.
Brilliant Side
The brilliant side of the foil is smoother, and stick less to the surface of the food, also its hot reflective index is higher, which can increase the cooking time a little. But using one side or the other does not harm the cooking or conservation of the food.
Aluminum is the first word we remember when talking about recycling. Recyclability is one of the main attributes of the aluminum in economy, social and environmental terms. It can be recycled infinite times, compared to other materials, it does not lose its characteristics in the process.
Aluminum recycle offers many advantages, representing a unique combination of positive items. To transform and put the aluminum back to the market, recycling economizes 95% of electric energy that would be used to produce the metal from the bauxite, that would have to be extracted from natural resources. It also offers social and economic gains, and a sustainable development. The benefits of the activity can be measured by the economy in electricity and bauxite (mineral that originates the primary aluminum) and the social factor, generating income promoted by the activity and the number of families attended by social projects linked to recycling.
Aluminum is 100% recyclable, infinite times, without any quality loss. The aluminum recycling process requires 95% less energy, if compared to the production of primary aluminum, which corresponds to significant emission reduction. The modern separation techniques allow that the disposed aluminum foil in the houses can be picked and recycled to a fraction of the original consumption of energy.
The use of aluminum foil to pack foods and liquids economizes more resources than those needed for its production. Many analyses of its life cycle show that aluminum packages and aluminum foil for domestic use represent less than 10% of the impact in the environment during the life cycle of packaged products (production, preparation and consumption).
It provides a complete barrier to light, air and humidity; this is the main reason to use aluminum as packaging for foods, beverages, and technical applications. Although it may be very thin, aluminum protects and preserves the smell and characteristics of the product packed. It increases shelf life of products to multiple months and even years. By assuring the preservation of the products for long periods of time without refrigeration aluminum foil prevents food to get bad and guarantees substantial energy economy.
Light but resistant, aluminum foil has exclusive characteristics which make it ideal to pack and repack a wide variety of products, even with different smells, and at the same time minimizes the use of adhesives. Due to its malleability, aluminum foil can be easily formed without losing its barrier properties, making it ideal to be used combined with other flexible materials to create extremely thin laminated materials for different markets and again, economize resources.
Plasticity and Resistance
When pressed in a mold, aluminum foil memorizes its shape, especially its folds and edges. The shape, thickness and mixture, can be selected to create the exact performance characteristics needed.
Weight and Space Saving
The low weight and thinness of the packaging provides economies in transport as well as in warehousing. Its shape is particularly adequate for automatic filling. The aluminum foil helps to economize resources during the wrapping and shipping of the product. Adding the property of preservation of products for long periods of time, without the need for refrigeration, aluminum wrapping provides great energy economy. Its format can rationalize the storage and showroom space, allowing even greater economy in cost and energy. The aluminum foil saves weight, is efficient and minimizes the amount of material needed.
Structural Stability
In light and alveolar shaped structures, the aluminum foil has the rigidity and stability needed that allow architects to reduce the weight of the structures and foundations of the buildings, and to engineers, at the same time, to reduce the weight in all types of transportation –ships, planes, trucks and cars.
Recovery
When the aluminum foil is not collected for recycling, it is processed in incinerators; the greatest part of the laminated sheet will be oxidized and will release energy that can be recuperated. The most important part is that the not oxidized remaining aluminum can be extracted from the ashes at the bottom of the incinerator and reused after for recycling purposes.

The aluminum foil is a good heat conductor. It resists all the temperature variations that can appear during its process and packaging usage, from a temperature below freezing until extreme ones used to cook and grill, without deforming, melting or presenting any risk of sudden cracking. The aluminum foil also quickly dissipates the heat, which is ideal for processes like sterilizer and heat sealing. It can help to minimize the sealing time and to regulate the variation of temperature when used in containers and flexible packaging, helping to protect the product quality and guarantee the energy economy. Its thermal conductivity can help to minimize the time of processing, cooling and heating. Vital for the efficient operation of a vehicle engine and for the comfort of the driver and passengers, the heat exchangers with aluminum foil wings will provide heat or cooling, depending on what is necessary. Thanks to its lightness, the aluminum foil has turned into an automatic choice.
Simplicity when Heating or Cooking
The food in aluminum packages can be cooked, heated, or reheated, in conventional or electric oven, microwave oven, “bain Marie”. The packaging of the aluminum foil helps to save time and resources during preparation.
Hygiene
After being produced, the aluminum foil turns completely sterile, thanks to the process of re-cooking at high temperature. It is secure to be used in contact with food and doesn’t let bacteria accumulate or grow.
Security and Protection of the Product
The Aluminum foil is safe to be used in contact with food. The aluminum foil which is not coated does not react with most of the food. In many applications, it is not in contact with the product because it is laminated in association with other materials. Apart from this, it is the ideal protection against product adulteration and has anti-falsification resources.

Aluminum foil reflects up to 98% of the light and the infrared heat. Its brilliant surface also presents a low emission of heat. This helps to minimize energy in isolation. Its isolating function extends up to protect against fire. In car panels that resist the flames, ships, doors resistant to fire, building panels, aluminum foil dissipates the heat and interrupts the access to oxygen needed to feed the flames.
Electrical Conductivity
Aluminum foil is a barrier against radiofrequency and magnetic wave’s emissions. When used in optical fiber cables, it acts as a tracking with the aim of assuring the integrity of the connection of wires. In coated wires, its electrical conductivity allows the integrity of the cable circuit to be certified.
